Photosynthesis – the process by which plants convert carbon dioxide ( CO2 ) into sugars and other nutrients – is essential for the survival of most forms of life on Earth.
A research team led by LMU biologist Privatdozentin Dr. Bettina Bölter and Professor Michael Groll of Munich’s Technical University (TUM) has now shown how an interaction between two proteins helps plants control the rate of photosynthesis and CO2 fixation in accordance with changes in light intensity.
