Die Universität Freiburg hat 2007 die alternierende Telearbeit / Heimarbeit in Form eines Pilotprojektes eingeführt.

Die Fallstudien beziehen sich auf die jeweiligen Arbeitsorganisationen und deren strukturelle und kulturelle Merkmale, in deren Kontext die Lebensführung von Vätern, ihre Orientierungen und Strategien sowie die paarbezogenen Aushandlungsprozesse untersucht werden.
Die Analyse des Organisationskontextes erfolgt mit Hilfe von Dokumentenanalysen, Expertengesprächen und Beobachtungen.
