www.laino.deAus der Witzendorff Handschrift der Lüneburger Ratsbücherei stammt das im Kloster Medingen entstandene und von Luther weitergedichtete Lied Gelobet seistu Jesu Christ, aus den Barther Gesangbüchern und einem sowohl in der Barther Kirchenbibliothek als auch im Kloster Isenhagen erhaltenen seltenen Cantionalbuch ( Wittenberg 1573 ) das Magnificat als Zeugnis des Fortlebens katholischer Elemente im reformierten evangelischen Glaubensleben.
Ebenfalls in den Barther Gesangbüchern wie dem Cantionale entdeckt: eine Passion in Liedform als weiteres Dokument früher Passionen ( wie auch die vom ensemble devotio moderna bereis eingespielte Matthäuspassion aus dem Cantionale ), vor deren Hintergrund die großen Passionen Bachs in neuem Licht erscheinen.
Lediglich die Witzendorffsche Liederhandschrift enthält vierstimmige Liedsätze.
