Neben dem Studium absolvierte Christoph Wimmer mehrere Meisterkurse, wie zum Beispiel bei Prof. Johannes Auersperg und bekam die Möglichkeit zu ersten Soloauftritten unter Größen wie Sandor Vegh.
Im Sommer 2000 wurde er erster Preisträger beim Wettbewerb "Prima la musica".
