We do a reconstruction of the phylogenetic relationships of the genus Xantho and related genera from the Atlantic Ocean or Mediterranean Sea and compare different geographic populations of Xantho hydrophilus and of X. poressa by means of population genetic and morphometric analyses.

www.biologie.uni-regensburg.deFür X. hydrophilus wurden zwei geographische Formen beschrieben, dabei gilt die als X. h. granulicarpus ( Forest, 1953 ) bezeichnete Variation als die endemische Form des Mittelmeeres.
Es werden phylogenetische Auftrennungen zwischen den Mittelmeer- und Atlantikarten der Familie Xanthidae untersucht und geographische Populationen der Arten X. poressa und X. hydrophilus mit populationsgenetischen und morphometrischen Methoden untersucht.
