Der Leser erfährt, dass der Inhalt des Manuskripts von einem gewissen Ludolf in dessen Werk „Commentarius ad Historiam Aethiopicam“ zitiert wurde (Abb. 4). Edward Ullendorff (1920-2011), ein herausragender Äthiopist, nannte Hiob Ludolf (1624-1704) den „berühmtesten Namen in der äthiopischen Gelehrsamkeit“.
Nebenbei bemerkt wurde auch das Zentrum für Äthiopistik der Universität Hamburg nach ihm benannt.
