Beim IGCC-Prozess wird die Kohle zunächst in einem Vergaser bei hohen Temperaturen und unter Druck in ein Synthesegas umgewandelt, das im Wesentlichen aus Wasserstoff ( H2 ) und Kohlenmonoxid ( CO ) besteht.
