Die Ergebnisse werden dann mit Einsichten zum besser erforschten Corpus buddhistischer Epigraphik aus der Mitte des 1. Jahrtausends verglichen.
Das Teilprojekt soll nicht nur Aufschluß über den Grad der ‚Sinisierung‘ buddhistischer Manuskriptproduktion g eben, sondern vor allem zur Klärung der Frage beitragen, welche Faktoren für die Varianz der Kolophone verantwortlich sind, ferner, wie diese zu zu den Votivinschriften im Medium Stein stehen.

The results will then be compared to the findings from the more deeply researched corpus of Chinese Buddhist epigraphy from the middle of the 1st millennium.
This sub-project should not only serve to provide information on the degree of 'sinicisation' of Buddhist manuscript production, but should chiefly contribute to answering the question as to which factors are responsible for the variance in the colophons and, furthermore, how they relate to the votive inscriptions in the medium of stone.

Peter Funke ist Professor für Alte Geschichte und Direktor des Seminars für Alte Geschichte und des Instituts für Epigraphik an der Westfälischen Wilhelms-Universität Münster, wo er auch die Forschungsstelle „Historische Landeskunde des antiken Griechenlands“ leitet.
Geboren 1950 in Rheine, studierte Funke von 1969 bis 1974 Geschichte und Germanistik in Münster.

Peter Funke is a professor of ancient history and Director of the Institute of Ancient History and the Institute of Epigraphy at the Westphalian Wilhelm University of Münster, where he also heads the Research Centre for Historical Geography of Ancient Greece.
Born in Rheine in 1950, Funke studied history and German philology in Münster from 1969 to 1974.
