Der gewählte Bruchteil des tropischen Jahres entstammt einer Berechnung von Simon Newcomb aus dem Jahre 1895, der astronomische Beobachtungen mehrerer Jahrhunderte ausgewertet und dabei das mittlere Periodenverhältnis zwischen der Erdrotation und dem Erdumlauf ermittelt hat.
