En Gran Bretaña el envío de Christmas cards (postales de Navidad) comienza a principios del mes de diciembre. Esta costumbre surgió a mediados del siglo XIX. Otra de las tradiciones navideñas británicas consiste en colgar los Christmas stockings (unos grandes calcetines) o fundas de almohadas para que aparezcan llenas de regalos a la mañana siguiente. Este ritual navideño es llevado a cabo por los niños durante el Christmas Eve (día de Nochebuena) que es día laborable en Gran Bretaña. La comida tradicional del Christmas Day consiste en pavo acompañado de patatas salteadas y de postre Christmas pudding o plum pudding que es un pastel hecho al vapor con diversos tipos de pasas, entre otras, pasas sultanas y de Corinto. Los Christmas crackers (otro invento británico de mediados del siglo XIX) son unos pequeños cilindros de cartón muy decorados que contienen en su interior un pequeño regalo, un proverbio y una corona de papel. Este cilindro de cartón se abre durante la comida de Navidad tirando dos personas de él simultáneamente, una por por cada lado.
