El País
El País is the Spanish daily newspaper with the largest circulation (over 450, 000 for the weekday edition and 750, 000 for the Sunday edition). It is available on line at www.elpais.es. First published in 1976, it became a symbol of transition, and of the new Spanish democracy.
From the outset it employed some of the best journalists and writers in the Spanish language. The paper generally supports the PSOE - Partido Socialista Obrero Español.
It gives considerable coverage to social issues and the arts, and also publishes supplements on subjects such as the economy and culture.
